Luxury fashion house Prada has extended its “Fashion Expressions: The Stories She Wears” initiative to Querétaro, Mexico, marking a significant expansion of a global program that blends fashion with social change. The initiative, launched in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), seeks to empower women and girls through fashion education, artistic expression, and storytelling.

Originally piloted in Africa and South America, the program is now being rolled out in Mexico to support women artisans and survivors of gender-based violence, offering them a safe space to learn new skills in fashion design, embroidery, and visual storytelling.

Participants in the program are trained in design thinking, business development, branding, and marketing, equipping them with the tools to either launch their own ventures or collaborate with established designers. By combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fashion techniques, Prada aims to create a platform for women to share their stories and challenge gender stereotypes.

This project is also a reflection of Prada’s broader commitment to sustainability and inclusivity, showing that luxury brands can take a leading role in promoting gender equality and economic empowerment.

The pieces created during the program are often showcased through traveling exhibitions or digital campaigns, highlighting how fashion can be used not just for self-expression, but as a powerful vehicle for social progress and community storytelling.
