Starbucks Corp has added social media entrepreneur Clara Shih to the coffee giant’s board of directors.
Shih is CEO of Hearsay Social, a San Francisco-based provider of social media platforms for companies. She developed Faceforce, a Facebook business app, and is a best-selling author. The addition of Shih, 29, comes at a time when Starbucks has been expanding its digital reach, with apps and location-based social networking websites such as Foursquare and Brightkite.
Starbucks has long been a prolific user of Facebook and Twitter to build brand awareness and customer loyalty.
